Dokumentární film, ve kterém jeho tvůrci portrétují umělce Daniela Landu prostřednictvím divadelního představení Tajemství Zlatého Draka. Režie E. Hníková a R. Komárek

V brněnském Národním divadle měla na podzim roku 2008 premiéru hra Tajemství Zlatého Draka. Tento dokumentární film se nezaměřuje na hodnocení představení z hlediska umělecké kvality. Tvůrci dokumentu se snaží skrze tuto inscenaci prozkoumat proměnu jednoho z autorů divadelní hry Daniela Landy od "skinheadského barda" z počátku 90. let až po současnost, kdy spoluzakládá tzv. "Legii zlatého draka". Dřímá v něm, krom nezměrné energie, hrozba pramenící z jeho temné minulosti, nebo už je to jen "hvězdička showbusinessu"?

Outlines

are long-time friends Jerome, Irfane and Jay1. Although the paths of life led the three members to interact - Jerome and Irfane went to school together - it is hip-hop culture that is responsible for their union. Indeed, while, in the early nineties, Jerome was breakdancing, both Irfane and Jay1 were writing graffiti. Jay1 has since then established himself as one of the finest French writers, collaborating with fashion designers (agnes b., 55 DSL, Maharishi, Takeo Kikuchi) and exhibiting in galleries from Berlin and Tokyo to London and NYC, either alone or with his crew, BadBC (Skki, Ash). After a few unpleasant experiences with police authorities, Irfane decided to trade-in his spray cans for records, and explored another one of hip-hop paths, dee-jaying. This eventually led him into musical production.

When they were still in their late teens, Jerome and Irfane linked up with New York MCs Shabazz the Disciple and the Arsonists. The two homies organized a European tour for the acts, and soon found themselves doing studio sessions with them and a few other European bands. After working for a year with Daft Punk’s management, Jerome eventually got into executive production (Blue Note Revisited, RZA, French Connection…) while Irfane continued to make beats (Shabazz the disciple, Shurik’n, Afrob, Gentleman…).

Today, the three loco brothers are preparing their first LP for Berlin-based label Sonar Kollektiv. The band has gained critical acclaim with its first single, “Just a lil’ lovin’”, which has been played and playlisted by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Mr. Scruff, King Britt, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Peter Kruder, Pedro Winter, Laurent Garnier and Josh Wink - a little name-dropping can’t hurt.

Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus is a Hip Hop band from Nantes, France. Formed in 1995, their music is a mix of all hip-hop true elements with live instrumentation influenced by jazz, soul & funk music.

This band gives positive vibrations, stepping outside the French rap box. The alchemy between the intruments and the main rapper/DJ/band leader 20syl, results in a appreciable coherence.

Them Crooked Vultures (2009)

An alt/classic rock supergroup, Them Crooked Vultures feature Queens of the Stone Age's guitarist and vocalist Josh Homme, Nirvana/Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl on drums, and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones on bass. The trio first discussed collaborating in 2005, but not much more was heard of the project until summer 2009, when Them Crooked Vulturesannounced that they had been recording an album in Los Angeles. The band made its live debut at Chicago's Cabaret Metro after that year's Lollapalooza Festival closed, adding auxiliary Vulture and longtime Homme collaborator Alain Johannes on rhythm guitar and keyboards. The show's set list was made up of grungy, hard-hitting rock with prog rock leanings, including the song "Nobody Loves Me and Neither Do I," which the band posted a brief clip of on its YouTube.
